On the slopes, ready, go!
Ski in, ski out
Searching for a parking space, forgetting gloves and laboriously carrying skis to the lift are a thing of the past. In the chalet village of Fanningberg right on the ski slope, it is just like “Get out of your house and into your skis”!
Nestled between the 6-seater Samson chairlift and the practice lift, as a guest in the Fanningberg Chaletdorf you can comfortably strap on your skis in the morning. You can just drive off and at the end of the day swing back right to the front door.
Pure skiing pleasure
The Fanningberg in Lungau is a real insider tip among the ski areas in the region of Salzburg. Located in Weißpriach and Mariapfarr, the sunniest place in Austria, the Fanningberg impresses with its more than 300 days of sunshine a year. In addition to the abundance of sunshine, guaranteed snow and extensive slopes promise an unforgettable winter holiday with family or friends. 30 kilometers of slopes – 13 km of groomed easy runs and 17 km of intermediate to difficult slopes – offer plenty of variety for beginners and experts.
The ski and snowboard school “Funny” offers courses for all ages and levels. In the “Funny Kids Park”, an area separated from the rest of the slopes, children are introduced to skiing in a playful way under the guidance of trained ski instructors. Two magic carpets transport the smallest guests safely and quickly upstairs.
One of the magic carpet on Fanningberg is even covered and protects against wind and snowfall. Small bumps and jumps provide a thrill on the descent and a colorful forest of fairy tale characters for even more variety. In between, the clumsy mascot “Funny” with his funny ski and dance inserts ensures plenty of fun in the “Funny Children’s Park”.
Snow fun on the Fanningberg
There is also a lot to experience off-piste on Fanningberg in Salzburg’s Lungau. The 8.5 km long toboggan run is a highlight for the whole family. From the Gamsstadl at 2,020 m, there is a floodlit run through the snowy landscape downhill into the valley.
If you are looking for an alternative program to skiing or snowboarding as a mountain fanatic on Fanningberg, you will get your money’s worth, especially with touring and snowshoeing. There are a multitude of great routes and trails to explore near the slopes. A particularly recommendable tour with an impressive mountain panorama leads over the disused Sonnleitenlift from Mauterndorf to the Moserkopf and on over the Frischinghöhe to the Fanninghöhe at 2,115 m.
Fanningberg Mountain enthusiasts know, of course, that the Fanningberg is an ideal starting point for hiking even in summer – whether for short walks or extended summit tours.
Fanningberg huts
A variety of restaurants round off the Fanningberg’s offerings. Whether comfortably in a deck chair on one of the explanatory sun terraces, in the rustic s’Stüberl with live music or with après-ski in the umbrella bar. At the Fanningberg Hütten there are 9 cozy ski huts where winter sports enthusiasts can stop off. And for the little guests there is a very special attraction at the Zirberl: a herd of reindeer that can be fed. Where else can you see “Rudolph” and his red nose up close?
