Summer vacation at Fanningberg

We look forward to a wonderful alpine summer at the chalet village Fanningberg in the middle of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Salzburger Lungau together with our guests.
The chalet village is our pride and joy. But we also have three ski huts and an agriculture. Additionally there is a separate hunting area and alpine area in the Weißpriachtal and our alpine hut “Chalet-Bergsee” at the Wirpitschsee. The mountain lake Wirpitschsee was chosen as the most beautiful place in Salzburg and is always worth a hike. For our guests we offer a free shuttle to our alpine pasture.

So there is always something to discover on a summer holiday on Fanningberg. Among other things, there are more than 60 crystal-clear mountain lakes nestled between rugged rocks or in the midst of lovely alpine meadows in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Salzburg Lungau.

We would like to show you as much of the Lungau as possible, especially the Fanningberg and the Weißpriachtal, where our family roots are. So what are you waiting for? Let’s go, summer vacation time!

Adventure in nature

We have the most natural playground in the world right on our doorstep: Nowhere else than in the country, on the alpine meadows and in the forest, children will find so many holiday experiences and adventures! Our own playground, which we have here in the chalet village of Fanningberg, is a special highlight: A huge trampoline, a nest swing and a fantastic go-kart fleet guarantee our youngest guests endless hours of fun!

We also meet regularly with our guests at the barbecue area for a cozy get-together.

Our beautiful natural biotope is just right for everyone who wants to start their vacation more gently, take a break between activities or enjoy the last hours of sunshine before the evening. The natural bathing pond is also a place of relaxation for everyone.

Hiking on the Fanningberg an sleeping in the nature

For a pleasant excursion, we suggest the Zirmbar Hike, a short-but-beautiful hiking tour on the Fanningberg itself: Stroll up to the Zirmbar and enjoy a few refreshments served to you by the owner, Marlene. A stamp for your hiker’s passbook as well as an original Weisspriach “Ullr” (a hand-carved medallion made of wood) will serve as your personal souvenirs of this delightful hiking excursion!

Spending the night amid alpine meadows is idyllic per se. But now we have kicked that up an added notch… In our open-air four-poster beds, you will be able to snuggle up for the night, inhale the clear mountain air, listen to the sounds of nature, and stare up into the night sky without interruption. And not to worry, you will be tucked away safer than if you were in a fox’s den! A unique experience for loving couples and open-air adventurers who love the nighttime. A wonderful opportunity for a bit of star-gazing!

Sleeping in the hay

Snug, fragrant and healthy … sleeping in the hay is a very special and truly unique experience, with feel-good benefits that have even been scientifically proven! In our original hayloft, which we have converted to offer comfortable overnight accommodations, you will be able to lie down on a bed of the finest Fanningberg organic hay produced on our own farm. A restful night’s sleep is guaranteed – not to mention the romance of the entire experience!

Sleeping in a Tent

The outdoor sleeping experience for adventurers, big and small! Snuggled up in cozy sleeping bags, you will get to spend the night under the open sky close to the Chaletdorf. The adventure begins when you set up the tent – and of course, our Chaletdorf staff will be happy to assist. Needless to say, the tents and sleeping bags are first-rate quality, while we will also loan you a flashlight and everything else you need to make it through the night! The tents sleep from two to four people.
